Im still seeing job fair tix available for Nov 13th.... usually they sellout within days, why still available only a week and half out?? I guess the rumors of longer upgrades being hired on the back end of the hiring wave has gotten people turned off or figured its better to wait for the majors to call since upgrade will be prob the same at the majors. A friend of mine hired at Delta last year is looking at another 2 years to hold 717 CA... that would be 3yrs and he said its only going to get shorter with all the retirements. So, logical thinking... 3-5yr upgrade at the majors or 3-5yr upgrade at Spirit with significant less pay. Looks like Spirit will be dropping the PIC requirements in the near future to get pilots if they cant get a very good contract soon, just my 2 cents...

A year ago, I bailed on the regionals for more pay, a killer schedule, and Turbine PIC time. I figured 2000 hours of 121 SIC was sufficient for job hunting at airlines later. I am looking at the hours that new hires at United, Anerican, Delta, Alaska, and Southwest and realize I haven't got a prayer of getting a job at any of those places. UPS, which is my dream job, is even less likely. But getting hired at Spirit seems attainable, so I am pursuing them as hard as my budget will allow. I intend to go to DFW job fair in January.
This is actually high on my list also because of the DFW base, and rumors of an IAH base. Both make commuting easier. Even if I spend 5 years as an FO, I want to try and make this place a career.

He goes "yeah, my brother is learning to fly and I told him to apply to Spirit while he works on his resume for Delta"
"I just replied 'Sure, have him apply. As long as he has the 4000TT, he has a shot"
Guy says "4000!!! That's more than Delta!"
Haha.

Had a Delta FO ask me if we were hiring, I said yes, puzzled.
He goes "yeah, my brother is learning to fly and I told him to apply to Spirit while he works on his resume for Delta"
