Quote: The difference between 65 and 67 is that ICAO rules are 65. The FAA and even Congress can't unilaterally change ICAO rules. Bottom line, it will take a lot more to change to 67 than it did to change to 65.
67... or 70. Can you imagine? Mr. Magoo glasses and a cane. Or a Rascal scooter.

I'm in my 50's and I know for a fact I am nowhere near as sharp as I was at 30.

Any new info on interview process? Should be through 2 weeks of interviews, right?

My buddy who interviewed the very first week in DFW said he did well and it sounded positive, but he still hasn't heard back yes or no. Gonna be tight if theyre still looking at that December 3rd class date.

Person I know really well interviewed last week. He says the first day's PST was tough (8 mini tests), maybe similar to what Delta's is like, and no way to study for it. Computer testing, READ the directions closely.

But, the second day's interview was really personable & relaxing (as much as an interview can be). Held in AA's C.R. Smith museum surrounding the Flagship DC-3. First some of the senior Chief Pilots came in & welcomed candidates. Then, a 2-on-1 interview (two AA pilots trained by HR) asking questions for 45-60 min (mostly TMAATs). Finished with 1-on-1 (a HR/admin rep) having candidate fill out some PRIA, background check-type release paperwork while also asking a couple TMAAT questions.

Told he'd hear something within 2 weeks. If accepted, he'd have to go back into his app & fill out some background check paperwork. Then, a medical exam would be final step. Some AA pilots I know said they had to complete a medical when they got on pre-9/11.

Oh, he also said that Capt Bart Roberts (Line Ops Chief Pilot) stated that Dec 3 class will be all AE flows. But, other Dec class would be all new hires. Then, starting in Jan, classes would be combo.

My guess is those who interviewed will report more once they've heard yay/nay. Good luck to all...exciting times at AA.

I'm glad to hear this and it mirrors my own interview in 1991. I had choked a bit at a Delta interview, partly due to nerves, partly due to how cold and impersonal I felt the Delta process to be.

The AA folk at least at this level of management were and are good people. And those hired I think are going to be impressed by (and enjoy) the schoolhouse and the training.

Heard from friends that "background check" emails went out yesterday... medical exam follows (final step).

For me, back to jury duty...

Fred,

Could you be a little more specific as to what "background check" emails means?

Thx.
