Quote: Wow... kinda sounds like a bunch of cry babies. Hasn’t always been perfect but all in all not to bad. 12 year CA pay maybe that makes it easier to stomach... 26 years left stayed in option A so I am stuck... maybe that skews my view but I hope not. I am pretty optimistic going forward... Things definitely to fix in section 6 next time around. I would relax and wait tell October 30th to get too spun up. I am pretty sure SWA contract is coming our way. Definitely some great opportunities out there right now. I guess if you can’t live with SWA rates all of the big 3 plus ups and fedex are hiring. Go get your dream job. Life is to short. If you are at the bottom of the AS or VX seniority list I get it, go get paid. If you don’t get that job check back in 20 years I bet you will have had a pretty good ride at “Alaskan”
Translation: I was a mid 20s hire at Alaska who scored the lottery at my dream PNW coast airline, CA in my mid 30s with a partial pension plan so I'm gonna ride it out no matter what happens. I'm mentally set up to always settle for less, that's my mantra. I have no intention of wanting to make this place better with pay and scope close to the big 3. I'll settle for less than Southwest pay. If you don't like it, leave and go to UPS/Fedex or the big 3 legacy carriers.

Ironic you're trying to call out people who want to make this place better as "cry babies." Well, it wasn't the crybabies who continued voting out every single QOL item over the years for virtually nothing in return. Pay protection for transition and vacation gone. Pension gone after 2010. And for what? You and your kind will always be willing to sell out and settle for less under some guise of being unique in the PNW. That is no longer true. Alaska is the only legacy airline that has zero scope. Ever wonder why? Hopefully the the new group with its VX total (820ish) and newhires from non-Horizon/air group regionals can one day be majority and put in the minority category those who are 92%er mentality and just happy to be at the PNW types.

Really???
Never voted yes for a contract in my tenure at Alaska.
Dream job??? Well not so much. This industry has sucked for 16 years... not many dream jobs out there
We are in arbitration...will get an award on the 29th... pretty sure we will be ok. If it really sucks complain then.
And wait didn’t you go undercut the entire industry for RJ rates.
95hr 320 CA... Don’t think AS management didn’t rub our noses in it as we had to compete with you guys.... I know I know your a “cobra” now demanding Delta 777 rates... what a joke.. I can hardly wait for the SLI... AS management is going to have to give all the VX pilots the day off served with hot coco and coloring books

LOL, any legitimacy to them lower the 3k and/or dropping the degree?

As far as I understand it they'll be preferring a 4 year degree and lowering the preferred total time to a more "competitive number more in line with other carriers". So, yes.

I'm running into more and more pilots wondering when airlines are going to drop the 4 year degree. Just get one! Deep down I don't necessarily believe that a 4yr degree makes you successful or not in life but if you got into this career you knew that the good jobs required a degree.

I can't imagine why any major would want pilots with less than 3K, unless they have 2K of fighter time. Typical for civilians seems more like 5K-9K these days.
