Translation: I was a mid 20s hire at Alaska who scored the lottery at my dream PNW coast airline, CA in my mid 30s with a partial pension plan so I'm gonna ride it out no matter what happens. I'm mentally set up to always settle for less, that's my mantra. I have no intention of wanting to make this place better with pay and scope close to the big 3. I'll settle for less than Southwest pay. If you don't like it, leave and go to UPS/Fedex or the big 3 legacy carriers.Originally Posted by Mea25000
Wow... kinda sounds like a bunch of cry babies. Hasn’t always been perfect but all in all not to bad. 12 year CA pay maybe that makes it easier to stomach... 26 years left stayed in option A so I am stuck... maybe that skews my view but I hope not. I am pretty optimistic going forward... Things definitely to fix in section 6 next time around. I would relax and wait tell October 30th to get too spun up. I am pretty sure SWA contract is coming our way. Definitely some great opportunities out there right now. I guess if you can’t live with SWA rates all of the big 3 plus ups and fedex are hiring. Go get your dream job. Life is to short. If you are at the bottom of the AS or VX seniority list I get it, go get paid. If you don’t get that job check back in 20 years I bet you will have had a pretty good ride at “Alaskan”
Ironic you're trying to call out people who want to make this place better as "cry babies." Well, it wasn't the crybabies who continued voting out every single QOL item over the years for virtually nothing in return. Pay protection for transition and vacation gone. Pension gone after 2010. And for what? You and your kind will always be willing to sell out and settle for less under some guise of being unique in the PNW. That is no longer true. Alaska is the only legacy airline that has zero scope. Ever wonder why? Hopefully the the new group with its VX total (820ish) and newhires from non-Horizon/air group regionals can one day be majority and put in the minority category those who are 92%er mentality and just happy to be at the PNW types.
