There was 118 unfilled FO positions on the ER on this latest AE. 78 737, 44 A320, 92 MD88 & 75 717. They will be filled with newhires. Probably a sprinkling of each in each class. The JR SLC is June 2014. Jr SEA is 2/2008.

Quote: Can we rehash the 76er pros and cons again? I remember lots of the cons... something like "you'll fly red eyes and Africa runs until you contract Ebola, which will happen about the same time you're displaced, forced to retrain and take a pay cut in your new narrow body." Seriously, though, I'd give it serious consideration.

Any insight on how would QOL would compare to the 88/717 for a commuter?
Depends on what you want really. In most situations, you'll be more senior on the 717/m88, thus more control over schedule. All you said is true concerning the ER. Traditionally, international reserve sucked because of 24 hour short calls, now that's gone.

I've been here six and a half years and been on reserve most of that time. I'm choosing to go back to the ER for more $$ and better equipment. I will also have more seniority than my current category.

I might live to regret it, but it's worth a shot!

Thank you for the juniority (is that a word??) for unfilled FO slots and SEA and SLC slots. I know there are a lot of folks interested in moving west ASAP.
What are that statistics for MSP. I know of many guys going through the schoolhouse this year that are interested in how the movement is happening there. Any of those -Bs ending up unfilled on recent AEs?

You'll also gain weight. Think "Freshman Fifty."

Yes… after your employment date. But you need one before your employment date. I guess I'm fortunate - mine was still good for a few more months.

Work early to get it - there is currently a shortage and some folks had a tough time finding a place that had it.

Quote: FYI for you poolies, I have it on good authority that the 767er will be available once again to newbies.
Based on the latest info from the Sept Crew Resources Newsletter I'd say you're correct.

Yeah, I thought it was a joke too....until life kicked me in the arse. Commuting to the ER, sitting in crashpads, 24 hour layovers and 6-8 quality days off a month at home....I went from 180 and a size 34 waist to 229 and a button popping sz 38. I bid off the ER last year, moved to base and I'm down to 210 and size 36. It's NOT easy once your over 40.

Do your wife & life a favor....bid a narrow body and move to base.

You'll be happier, healthier AND make more money.

Until things stagnate and you're displaced. Multiple times. Then you're stuck commuting hub to hub.

Bid the 88. April thru October it is like a sauna with out the hot rocks and water to steam it up. Then you will get your aerobic exercise each time through ATL with the scheduled 45-50 minute plane changes which inevitably turn into 10-20 minute turns. You will get a van sometimes, but if you choose to walk to take care of basic bodily functions(making room for food and replacing the food expelled) you are looked upon as a non team player by ground OPs.
