Electronic Systems Validation..basically a computer test of all limitations, boldface and systems questions specific to the aircraft you're training on. We used to have to pass an oral exam after ground school (think "what happens to a molecule of air entering the inlet of the ATF-3?") but that was replaced by watered-down CBT (usually a CD you complete prior to showing up for training) and then the ESV in the first couple of days after showing up for class. Just like the written tests we took at ATC Mobile but not requiring the "depth of knowledge" regarding systems that you're used to.
Bad news, you don't get the ground school instruction anymore, but the good news is you'll spend less time on Virginia Ave...and there's plenty of extra study material and gouge to go around!
Good luck, hope you get an interview soon!

Any word on today's class drop?
This is oversimplified I am sure, but tell me if I have this right. If I go back 3 pages and find the vacancies from the last AE, then pull out the class drops since then, plus today's and next weeks, I get what is available to be offered to the 18 Aug class? Yes, that is my class date. Time for me to start figuring out what I want to fly when I grow up!
And when is the next AE to come out?

If youre super high (7xxx or so), youll have a choice of at least 2 or more aircraft. Some recommend bidding MD88 anyway since its a moneymaker and will get you a good schedule pretty fast without the limited range of the 717. In our class the high SSN's took all the 73n/a320/717 slots, and all the MD88s went to the bottom, meaning not one person who actually had a choice to take another aircraft, chose the md88 over that other aircraft. However that did not hold true for the 7/21 class. 8 out of the last 10 slots went 717. Pretty interesting how each class has a totally different dynamic. In another class, a320 went at or near the bottom. So bid what you want and you just might get it. Good luck!

Atl is going to be my easiest commute, which of the standard FNG options provide the most commutable options in ATL? The way hiring is going, seems there will be more jr folks behind you pretty quick no matter the platform. So being able to commute in and out without always addng extra days to the trip would be my best QOL option. Second consideration is I think I would prefer fewer/longer legs vice more/shorter.

It's been a great experience, I am astounded at the movement and feel very lucky to be here.
