minimum 7 days off. your training is assigned by seniority in class. The more senior on your equipment in your class, the sooner your start. Im 5 from the bottom out of 20 MD88s in my class and I have 15 days off. The bottom 2 MD88s in my class have 22 days off. The "backlog" didn't appear to be that bad on other aircraft, but the average is 10 to 15 days. You are on training pay even on days off at that monthly salary posted above. Some of our 717 classmates are going to Miami for Sim training so they'll get hotel and perdiem while theyre there.

Use those 7-15 days off to study systems, profiles, etc. Things move very fast once you return to school.

Don't listen to this guy. Use those 7-15 days to drink beer, grill out, and enjoy summer.

Exactly. Go through the systems modules once and hammer the LOD a few times but really. Don't let them put the fear of God in you. Put flows aside until you show up for class. Plenty of time to learn them then...the right way, the first time. Yes the above is true even of the 88.

You're a young motivated newly hired DL pilot not some crusty old ER FO scared to bid Captain. Roll with it.

I went on a week long family vacation. Read during the day on the beach but didn't go crazy. Got one wrong out of 168 on the Esv and didn't touch a flow until after esv. The LOD is your bible. I wasted time doing the cbts a few times. Great for knowledge but not for the test. Things are going just fine. It's set up for you to concentrate on one thing at a time. Very different from my last two airline training programs.

Agree with PAOK. I did the CBTs at night during my 2 weeks off but was driving cross country 2k miles to a new house and moving in. Focused on the LOD once I showed up for training week 1. The rest all flowed together from week to week. I probably over studied during training but the instructors appreciated that I reviewed the slides prior to each session and took notes during discussion. Some folks spent extra time practicing flows on their own and even with their captains in procedure trainers but I never had to do this.
