I would like to fly the 73N so I can eventually get CVG or SEA (if they ever pull the trigger of SEA having 73N's), but based my SSN, I am assuming I will probably get an MD88 or 717. Last 4 is 22XX.
I would plan on NYC 7ER . However one never knows.

Unfortunately not. A category freeze (1 year for new-hires and normally 2 years for each bid after that) begins on the day of the award (or the new-hire's hire date). A pilot will not be awarded an AE if the earliest possible conversion date (i.e., the beginning of the conversion window) comes before the end of the freeze.

Rog... A 7ER wouldn't be too bad. I enjoy long haul. I just would hope for a shorter amount of time until I can hold a line.

Damn. Oh well. Thanks.

Are there only 2 new-hire classes in Oct? The one on Oct 6th, and the one that started yesterday?

Yeah its way over networked with crews. The extremely high rate of commuters (who commute by air to a location that is highly vulnerable to service disruptions or commute by car with some legendary drive times for many of the "locals") as well as the nature of the trips just don't mesh with the reality of it all. With extremely early reports and late releases being the norm far more than other bases coupled with the other challenges and high cost of everything simply canibalizes the reliability factor from having a domicile in the first place.

The crew domiciles needs to shrink significantly to operate on as high of a tier as it needs to for that critical market. But on paper the hotel savings is just too tempting for the bean counters and they always win. The "savings" always shows up on the spreadsheets but many of the costs are much harder to quantify and track, but they are there for sure.

Its way overgrown and they keep growing it merely to transfer hotel costs (on paper only) to junior pilots and FA's. A few updates ago they acknowledged that it was saturated with crews and implied they would start flowing manpower from other bases through there more, but then kept growing it.

I am a poolie with a seniority question. My last 4 of my social are pretty good 83xx so I am hoping to be near the senior part of my class. My question is do the flow guys from Compass/Endeavour etc get more senior numbers in the new hire classes or can I count on my number get me a pretty good spot? At Skywest they allow ASA pilots who come to Skywest to be the most senior pilots in class. Is this the case at Delta? Will 20 compass guys be the most senior guys in the class?

I'm pretty sure the answer to your question is yes, they will be the most senior. That being said, I think the flows from Compass are done for the year. Now if any of them were held back and are in your class, they already have a seniority number (I believe) and will be senior to anyone in the class.

I think the flows get their plane assignments before Indoc (and i heard they're done, for the year too). That's why a few classes back, the class was 50 but there were only like 14 planes in the drop--flows already had theirs.

The word from training (checked today) is 115 pilots/mth.

The CPZ pilots get a seniority number on their virtual class date. That would be their actual class date if the company didn't hold them back. Since they are always held back, they show up for class with "higher" seniority than non flows in the class. However your class date might also have flows in your actual class as their virtual class, and you all would get numbers based on SSN like everyone else. Then they are usually held back and won't show up for 2-3 months.

They also usually show up with equipment pre-assigned, so they usually don't "outbid" the rest of the class which is merely bidding on that the company released based on vacancies anyway.
