But that sucks for us, because who's gonna take over your spot in the forums as chief complainer and main critic, lol. We need you as the main counterweight for all the company kool-aid.
Haha! Chief complainer is a title I guess I deserve. I really did try make an effort to get involved in different areas. SW is a great company with awesome people. In my 6,000 hours here, I can probably count on one hand the crew members that I flew with that I had any problems with. I never worked at another regional so the issues here may be minimal compared to those at other places. For the first couple years I really tried to acquire a taste for that yummy KoolAid with that crushed ice SGU is famous for!!
That being said, this is not the same company it was even 10 years ago. Gone are the days where management and the pilot group could work together and make this a great company. I flew with many senior guys (20 plus years) that were disappointed with the direction the company has gone over the past couple years. I would say my screen name came from my dashed hopes of increasing my QOL as my seniority increased.
I know it is impossible to get 4 pilots to agree on something, let alone 4,000 but my hope is that somehow their is some unity created here to help SW become the great company it once was. It's pretty sad to see the voter turn out for SAPA elections around here and I have no doubt that this is what emboldens management to do as they wish with no reprocussion. I have been one of the biggest critics of SAPA, but I always appreciated the work folks like MM, NL, CH, KS and BH have done over the years. They were fighting an uphill battle that unity among the pilots would've made easier. Even though I haven't been on reserve for over 5 years, it was still an important issue to me just because of the abuse that I know our current reserve pilots face every day. I wish that we could have at least got 80% of people behind making improvements for everyone and got away from pitting pilots against each other (emb vs crj, crj vs 175)
Any pilot here today that thinks we still have a management team that has the pilots best interest in mind has to look no further than what SGU is doing with IAH. Yeah it only impacts 200 of our pilots right now, but what happens when they do it your domicile? To see management do a Bill Clintonesce 'what is the definition of "is"' by taking the word "may" and saying they don't need to pay relocation incentives is disingenuous at best and dishonest to say the least. I do admire that RJ and BH has finally started to communicate to the pilot group that if they don't like what is happening with travel benefits, relocation pay and other PIC type issues that they should make their voice be heard by communicating to those that have control over it. At least they are being honest in how little control they have over these issues.
Best of luck to everyone here. I hope to see a majority of you on the other side!!
