Unless something new has happened, a few months ago SAPA announced their desire to ask company to come back to the table early. I didn't hear an update past that.
Truth be told they will have to start negotiating relatively soon anyway for the natural end of our short term agreement.

Even before that, someone at SAPA sent out a communication (may have been R.J.) that it was actually the company who approached SAPA to open up pay talks early. They quickly did a 180, and changed their story to say that SAPA were the ones approaching the company completely unsolicited, and not to get your hopes up.

Yeah, I remember that. Why would they backpedal like that? I could certainly see it being in the company's favor to raise new hire pay right now.

Optics, to make it seem like the pilot's don't have any negotiating leverage.

There are a bunch of good and hard working guys in SAPA, they're smart, mean well, and try to have the pilots back's as much as they can. But never forget, SAPA is primarily a tool for the company, not the pilots. It was implemented, and funded by the company, not the pilots. They do a lot of good work, and are standup guys, but SAPA's main purpose is being the company's mouthpiece.

With the downturn in oil UAL cut capacity in Houston. There is a chance that some of the flying went to the shelf to be dusted off later.

If based in MSP, do you only get Delta flight benefits?

Company wide pay raise in January. Other than that, I don't think so.
