I had the 8 pm - 2 am shift for new hire sims and it was pretty chill.

To answer the next inevitable question:
Why would they leave their union regional to Skywest if they loved it so much?
Imagine union regional X goes under. Disgruntled but experienced pilots have many options of other regionals to go to. Reluctantly they choose Skywest, not because they want to come here (they really would rather have a union, and possibly also loathe Inc already) but because they can pick up where they left off at 8 years on the pay scale and a quick upgrade.
Most of the guys that I have flown with that came from a union carrier want nothing more to do with a union. Most of the most vocal union supporters I have seen are those who, you might say, have other issues and I'll just leave it at that.

What you need to realize is that just like on this forum you're only receiving a small sampling. And I hope that you're not naive enough to believe that this is how all union pilots feel? What you're hearing is coming from disgruntled X union pilots. I also would venture to say there are many who are dissatisfied with the recent events at the Mighty Skywest. Does that mean everyone at Skywest though? Probably not.

I agree with you. But the other guy has a point. The main thing is. There is not a "severe" enough gap between us and the union airlines...

I know it's true but it's too bad so many pilots look at a union only as a means to close that gap in the next negotiating round.

Think the majority know it would stall things out for years.. so thats the take what we get, and move on mentally...

Why would anyone assume that it would stall things out for yours? It's not like you don't have a five year deal already anyway. If that was the fear, then now is the time to do it so that five years later, you are ready for the next deal. Regardless, there are always MOUs, LOAs, and side letters between all contracts. There never is any stalling when business keeps moving forward.

Question jumpseat on your own metal ( unable)

today I tried to jumpseat to SLC, but a LC captain was listed there already, so I was giving low priority on our own metal ( Alaska tail) so I got bypass from a Alaska pilot..

my question is, are we the bottom of the barrel when we fly an Alaska tail on our own metal ? gate agent said, Alaska Pilots come first on our own metal..

any one wants to chime in ?
