They get paid for dropping a turn if it takes them below MDG. MDG is just that, MINIMUM you get for showing up to work PERIOD

Yeah but the company has the right to try and build efficient pairings which block more than MDG. If you then break up that pairing for your own convenience, you don't have a "right" to MDG.

MDG just exists to keep the company from wasting our time with inefficient workdays. Not to allow you to game the system and get free time off with pay.

I'll certainly call out the company on a wide variety of BS, but full pay for crew split pairings isn't in that category.

Now QOL on the other hand...it might be worth a union right now to try and get some QOL rules locked in. That was why I voted yes in 2006...didn't think we needed it, but wanted to lock in the QOL we had at the time, just in case. Guess I was right about that one.
Rick. Do you happen to remember what the voter participation percentage was on that vote? Just curious.

How about when they have an ot pairing with LCO on it? You're going to work aren't you? Why not MDG?

Oh but wait it's MDG OR 1.5x lco whatever is higher.

Yeah good luck with that. Our ppm is a joke and it pains you to admit it. It's ok.

QOL is the reason I would vote yes to a union as well.
Also I am not against having a legally binding contract instead of a policy manual that management can (and regularly does) change and interpret to fit their needs.
In reference to my previous comment about paying a union, I am not suggesting that a union fixes everything (certainly not at the regional level), but there are undeniable benefits as well.

I would vote in a union the first chance I have! The PPM is a joke! A new hire was "released" for failing their final sim ride, sure it's not for everyone. But the student pleaded to have a sim during normal hours claiming they were fatigued by having to be in the sim from 22:00 to 02:00, fell on deaf ears.

That's not even permissible, at Republic, to train or check during those hours. Written in a LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT!

Oh, enjoy the 4am stuff too!

Actually, it's pennies in the grand scheme of things.

Not exactly, but it was about 30% yes IIRC. At the time the rule was that a vote not cast counted as a no vote, so there's no way to distinguish between no voters and apathy on that vote.

I believe the rule was subsequently changed, so as I understand it in any such election today you only need a majority of the CAST ballots, so actually it would be easier to pull off today than in 2006 (apathy doesn't count as a no vote).

I only work OT if it pays enough. If the company needs my help on a day off they just have to pay me enough, I don't care if they call it MDG, x1.5, or beer money so long as the price is right.
