Quote: I get what you’re saying here, but WE don’t have scope. And they could give us a better-than-expected contract without scope and the same could be said.

Then Cape Air gets 60 E175s, rebrands as B6 Lite and our seniority list stops cold for five years.

This may be stating the obvious for many, but I fly with guys who don’t understand the gigantic hammer that a weak or nonexistent scope clause gives the company. It is the single piece of leverage the pilot group has over the company short of labor action.

We should DEFINITELY be very vigilant here. No scope/weak scope is a no vote for me. Southwest is the example.
Agree with you 100%. Scope successorship and job protections are a must.

Quote: Confirmation bias... They want the sky to fall, so they ignore the positive aspects of the email. The fact that it says “We made advancements this week.” Is a positive thing. Also, they noted that the mediator has been “quite helpful.” Another positive. Plus, we have agreed to more mediation sessions.

We are in the end stages, so any movement at this point is good. If it were headed towards impasse, the tone would be much more negative. Anyone who has been through an airline negotiation would understand how positive that last email was. It’s a night and day difference from the last carrier.

These things take patience, and frankly, the posts over there on the other site are downright harmful to our cause.
You don't think confirmation bias works for people with both positive and negative outlooks?

Not if you have a rational and objective look. I don’t have a positive outlook. I look for both the negative and the positive, and call it like I see it. You ALWAYS call it negative. Always.

Some here are the opposite of you, for sure and yes, confirmation bias works for them too.

I couldn’t agree with you more.

Rates of pay mean NOTHING without airplanes to support them.

Honestly- great post.

I may have misremembered but I thought I heard that the SCOPE section was already TA'd. Anyone else remember hearing that from the P2P conference calls or from a P2P member?

Article 1: Recognition and Scope is not TA'd on the current list.

Could someone explain what “scope” is for those of us new to the airline business.
