Quote: Question for the list makers:

A pilot accepts move up pay to go in early for a trip that gets him back early enough to commute home and he is able to take his daughter out for breakfast on her birthday.

This next one happened to me: I was offered a JA for a three day, drop and pay protection for the 4 day I was supposed to fly, and it got me the weekend off and I was able to join my wife at her cousin's wedding. For the record it is the only JA I have done in my 3 years here.

Do these cases make you one of Bendo's minions? I personally don't think so. I think it is okay to accept some offers by crew scheduling under certain situations at this point in negotiations. I personally will not go above and beyond for only financial reasons at this point, but i will consider their proposals if it allows me to attend certain important family functions.

Thoughts?
I wouldn't put too much thought into it. People make a list of others who pick up open time are just stupid. Not because I believe in people picking up on their days off but because of reasons like you have just stated. For someone like me ( a commuter ) , you can bet your ass that I would rather drop RSV or trips that are not commutable for trips that keep me home more often. Making my QOL terrible To make a few angry people happy is not in my best interest. That said I'm also below min for the next two months so it's not like I'm cashing in on these trades.

Asking these jokers on here if it's "okay" to pick up OT, JA, whatever is a bit like asking the devil if it's cold where he's from. In both instances, you are going to get a NO.

You don't need permission bro. Just do whatever you need to do in order to:

1. Get paid the most
2. Have the most off time
3. Best trips and QOL

As long as it's within the bounds of the contract, you are A-OK.

Me personally, I do what's best for me. I'm not an OT hog, but I do pick up on certain occasions in transition and yes, at straight pay sometimes.

For instance, January is a notoriously slow month for getting called for JA's. There are quite a few reserves available in my base over the first part of the month with only a couple of red days in there. I picked up an easy high credit 3 day. At straight pay.

We will likely be without a new contract for quite some time regardless of whether you pick up or not and regardless if you run all three on taxi at all times. Just do what's best for you.

Who are the "list makers"? What are they doing with this "list"?

It is not so much that I am personally asking. It was more of a question to play devil's advocate to these supposed list makers, and also to make people think twice before judging someone for taking MUP. But thanks for the response Boat Ramrod. Perhaps we can get Plane Ramrod to weigh in..

Sincerely,
Car Ramrod

Ha! Looks very professional and deserving of over $100k as an FO!
Ok, hear me out. Maybe he doesn't want to pick up open time so he works a second job as a clown. His gig at a bar mitzvah ran late and he will change into his black cowboy boots and alpa tie in the crapper at the airport.

Last week I got a great deal at the hard rock hotel and it was very nice. Also the Hooters has a crew rate for 50 dollars out the door.
Beats the quality inn I say. But download the ID90TRAVEL app because they usually have great deals on hotels. Watch out for resort fees though.
