Quote: That's bad news for me, she's due in 5 months and my class date is in 2 weeks, is there any type of leave prior to finishing probation?
I'm not sure, but I heard a similar case with someone else and they were able to provide a leave of absence of some type. Just talk to the CPOs office about your issue and I'm sure they'll be able to help out some way.

Can you give us outsiders an idea of what the training schedule looks like. Duration, modules involved from first day Indoc to type ride?
Thank you!

You show up, you get hit in the face with a firehose of information and hopefully you drink in just enough to pass the Checkride at the end. When training is done, you go out into the real world and actually learn how to fly the plane.

In other words, just like any othe initial training event.

Thanks, been flying commercially for 25 years and have been through a couple of training events. Appreciate your candidness.

It should be about 10 weeks from start to finish. If they are on track, you'll go home after indoc and special training for 10 days to complete your CBT's afterwhich you return to complete ground and IPT's for another week and a half. The second half of the second week will be prepping for your SV & PV. Complete those two and then onto the simulator portion. I had 5 days off between my SV/PV and start of sims. You'll have 7 sims, then your MV, followed by the QLOE and then the wait for IOE.

If you were trying to be helpful, you were not. If you meant to be a smart @@s, you did great.

I hope to start class soon, wondering what is SV/PV and IPT?

Systems Validation (your oral)
Procedures Validation (flows, callouts, etc).

IPT is the procedures training that happens along with ground. You spend four hours a day in a cockpit trainer where you work on your flows, learning the FMS, and other things.

Very useful info MD, Thank you much. One more question and I'll let the subject die, How long is indoc and special training? Special training-Emergency stuff?

Indoc is M-F of week one, youbstay the weekend to study your FM1 and then take the indoc test on Monday.

The special training is safety/security along with the cabin trainer. It's an extra couple of days.
