Let me add a little what is said above...
I recommend you to pick the airplane and domicile you can have a good life in.
There will be NO quick upgrades, this happened last time around too, i would not be surprised to see 5+ years to upgrade.
Most of the FO's at the company today will always be senior to you and they have been held back on upgrade and all that needs to catch up before any new upgrades come in.

How do upgrades work?
Say I'm a CRJ FO at LAX, will the company announce need for ERJ Captain at ORD and you bid for it and hold it if you're senior enough? Or is upgrade only available to me when the need is for a CRJ LAX captain? And is it all purely seniority driven?

The way I understand it, if you have a standing bid in for ORD CA in the ERJ it will be awarded to you if you are high enough on the seniority list for the number of ERJ CA’s needed that month. They don’t have to post vacancies in order for you to get it, because CA’s may bid out of ORD that same month and those vacancies have to be filled. I have heard they sometimes award out of seniority if you are transitioning at the same time you upgrade, because it takes longer to upgrade a CRJ FO to ERJ captain than an ERJ FO.

Virginia explained a few years ago that CA vacancies will always be filled by awarding all CA transitions into said vacancy, then any remaining slots will go to upgrades / upgrade transitions. So it is very possible someone who is junior to you who is already a CA, will be awarded the CA vacancy slot before they upgrade you into it. Hence why when vacancy is slim, so many FOs upgrade into junior bases with a lot of vacancy, immediately put in your transfer to the base you want and wait for it to be awarded. Hopefully soon.

I have to ask, what’s the deal with ERJ MSP? Through a group text I was informed the flying has been declining recently? Some head scratching going on.
Edit: The 900’s are replacing the flying, interesting.
