See above, he was sitting reserve on the wrong coast...

This is not the person I'm referring to. I said a single occurrence.

point is SKW doesnt fire one for a "simple missed commute" theres always more to the story.

Also knew a ORD captain sitting reserve from his home in Redmond. Every time they would call him he would call out. Did this several times until he got called in. Surprisingly didnt get fired.
Well he was denied boarding on our own delta bird, and QX was in meltdown mode. I think he had like 4 options but none of them worked out. Everyone told him he'd be fine calling off emergency. Flight cancelled, he was fired. Could happen to anyone.

Lol. You must know everything about every person ever fired. I got the story from him. He's now a captain at horizon. He's a straight shooter and prior military. I have no reason not to believe him. In my experience a single occurrence can get you into hot water under the right (wrong) circumstances.

Nope. Series of unfortunate events leading to a cancellation. Management wanted to make an example out of him.

Sounds like a “good example” because no one has heard that story but you.... go ask the Envoy pilots about the firing a guy for a tcas/navigational error... there are stories everywhere...

Yes i do know it came right TG that they wanted to make an example out of him, And im sure he'll be along shortly to defend himself. Yes he's a good dude who went to the same flight school as I did and fortunately was picked up promptly at QX. Im aware of the boarding issue as well. Was knew and possibly took some ill advice, but didnt want to drive the 2 hrs, and shouldn't have gotten the chief involved. And from his own admittance had higher than average call outs on probation (due to illness mostly) so to my point its never ONE occurrence, its true in this case and in nature that its a series of events. (with a dash of good or bad luck)

I agree with all of this except I don't think he had that many callouts from what he told me. It's been a while though. The drive is much more than 2 hours that time of night and he didn't have a reliable vehicle. It could have happened to anyone.

Like I said, it was pretty common knowledge at the time. I don't know what to tell ya. Everyone thinks our attendance policy is so amazing..... Until the day it's not.
