I knew someone in a similar situation. As soon as they got 500 PIC their phone rang off the hook. Nothing from the majors until that point.

I’d say not nearly enough to affect the company in any significant way. In around 3 years I’ve flown with 2 guys from Australia, one from somewhere in South America (Colombia or Argentina I think), and two guys from Korea. I know there are definitely more than that, but I would say the very large majority of Skywest pilots are US Citizens. I also believe that Skywest does care about their employees and would do whatever they can to support them if a difficult situation was created.

what decade was that?

This guy has been retired from Delta for several years. He simply cannot let go. He has zero relevant gouge from Delta.

No idea who that guy is but I will say I am currently hearing a similar story. 1,000 TPIC, maybe a bit less if you know someone. Best I can tell at this point all the majors want 500-1,000 TPIC min and of course always less if you know the right guy.

Which ERJ base is best for commuting (from PBI or ORL if matters)?
Which ERJ base has the most opportunities to pick up more trips/time?

ATL is a new ERJ base starting Jan 1st but might go a bit senior for a while as the displaced ATL CRJ pilots transition over to the ERJ and bid back into ATL.
No particular base has more open time, kinda cyclical and generally based upon weather events, winter storms, thunderstorm season, etc.

Good advice, small bases suck for commuters, especially juniors.

Thanks for the tips. Rechecked my email from SkyWest and I'm on the CRJ not ERJ. The excitement of getting a class date overlooked the actual airframe. So CRJ it is. Stoked!! Now trying to figure out best base. I was also thinking ORD simply by looking at google flights to see where I can commute the easiest from.

Oof a Florida commute is gonna suck regardless. ORD is certainly a junior base, and likely to stay that way for a while. If you're goal is to get in and out, would be a good choice. DTW also an option, little to no -200s as well!

Unfortunately DFW is senior and IAH is small, both would be hard to get into.
