A friend of mine told me this TA also codifies part-time pilot positions permanently into the work agreement. He didn't have any details. Is part-time just something that is in there to avoid furloughs potentially in cases like the pandemic, or can you bid part-time? Having retired early, while my wife is still working, seems less about doing fun things, and more about sitting around with my thumb up my butt. If I could fly 8 or so days per month on the west coast, I'd consider doing it, but the conditions would have to be right.

The FO 750 hour pay is a slap in the face. Who doesn’t have 750 hours by year 3?!? The company will never have to pay this because FOs will for sure get 1000 hours before year 3 and upgrade and then GTFO (I hope).

years 1-4: Company contributes 3% automatically (no contribution required); and will match an dollar for dollar an additional 1% contribution. Total contribution from the company of 4%.

years 5-9: 3% automatically; 4% match dollar for dollar. Total contribution from company of 7%.

years 10-14: 3% automatically; 6% match dollar for dollar. Total contribution from company of 9%.

years 15-19: 3% automatically; 9% match dollar for dollar. Total contribution from company of 12%.

years 20+: 3% automatically; 11% match dollar for dollar. Total contribution from company of 14%.

Why do you consider this an insult? Because of the requirement to include "any" in the bid? It allows FOs, if they wish, to bid for a CA position without even meeting upgrade minimums and receive what will probably be 2nd or 3rd year pay north of $140 an hour months before they go to upgrade class. Or if you are a new-hire with previous 121 experience to start at $135 an hour. Yeah, you'd have to go wherever they send you, and hope to transfer to the domicile of your choice ASAP.

Do the AA regionals offering this have any restrictions on how it pays out?

I could be totally wrong, but I don't think we have any part time pilots right now. That policy was something that came about during Covid when the flying was greatly reduced. The only pilots that aren't working 85+ hours a month are senior in their domicile and seat.

It really is poor.

That EFB notification will be abused the second it passes, if it were to pass. I am at a loss to see how SAPA, even though they are essentially just management, can put this forward with a straight face.
Luckily the sentiment is very very negative...so you know, it will probably pass with a 90% yes vote knowing this pilot group.

Can you elaborate on this? How much previous 121 time is required to qualify?

750 hours. The pay would probably be even higher with credit for years at another carrier. Come in with five years' experience at $155. Have 1000 hours 121 time and you'd upgrade immediately.

This assumes this gets voted in. Plenty of wrong with it.
