He’s referring how SEA CRJ Pilots got displaced... still not as bad as my days at Eagle. I was displaced 5 or 6 times. Lost count...

I’ll buy that.
But a fleet base closing at any airline will result in a displacement. The Alaska CRJ got an extended life long after the writing was on the wall.

You can throw the Houston base in there as well. 120 crews and they give 5 people displacement compensation...

Seniority system doesn't really happen at SkyWest. It's honored when convenient for the company.

Houston as well.
The compensation aspect of the displacements though wasn’t handled outside of what policy states. Company needed to dictate a base in need of their transferring to for staffing purposes to receive the incentive. Company instead let them bid into any base their seniority could hold. No compensation required by our agreed policy manual.

None of my troll-business, but I do hope you wear a back brace when you carry all that water?

Company need has always prevailed over any procedures or manuals.

You should see what happens to individually targeted people.

I got displaced once, bid only for the other jet in that base. They kept telling me to bid for another base (if you bid for it, it's voluntary). I never did, so at the end they just flowed a few more jets in and let me (and a couple others) stay on a different airframe. They can certainly be manipulative when it comes time to shuffle pilots at the lowest cost.

That's amazing. How can policies like that continue when the industry is getting so skosh for new hire applicants? Granted, I haven't been overly impressed by regional unions (although it would appear better to have one than a pseudo-Union like Skywest has) but you'd think the market alone would correct these practices. Is Skywest management in denial, or am I naive?
