Perhaps you can explain why I was told there were no scheduled new-hire 175 classes after March 3?

Re: new-hires in the 175...this much is true (I believe)...one could very well rise in seniority enough to finally come off reserve, only to get bumped back down into reserve status as more senior pilots transition into the plane.

Like I said, the folks I interviewed with (very nice, btw) were selling the CRJ really hard when they offered me a class date.
You should have listened. You will be on reserve for a long time as more and more senior guys transition over. Your best bet would be to fly the CRJ for a year or 2 and then transition over. The only way I would hold out for a ERJ class is if you wanted PDX. That base is about to double in size on the ERJ and CRJ will likely go away. It will likely become the second most junior base very quickly, if it's not already. CRJ guys are holding lines right out of class.

Why is it that the 10% of the SKW pilot group who are total DBs make it a personal mission to post on APC??

I've gotten not 1 but 3 separate PM's from SKW guys apologizing for the 10%ers here in as many days.

Way to represent to a potential new hire who also has an offer from Compass and hasn't made up his mind, Word.

Geez.

So, telling you how things really work makes me a db? I talk to a lot of new guys who choose the 175 and regret their decision. Movement on the CRJ will be exponentially better for at least the first year. You will make more money and have more control over your life.

Potential new-hires be advised...

If you do go into the 175, just know much more senior pilots want into that aircraft, and as they transition in your seniority will continually be pushed down over time. This has big implications for upgrade later on.

That part they weren't lying to me about, I feel certain.
They probably didn't lie to you. We have over 80 CRJ FOs with a bid in to transition to the ERJ. Most of them aren't seat locked, and those that are for the most part will be off it by the end of May. Therefore, if they run two classes of 14 a month, we have plenty of pilots here already to fill those seats until summer.

To compound the problem, we're short on CRJ FOs as well and don't want to allow those with a transition bids in to go to class. They've already bypassed some with bids in. This is one of the reasons recruiting is probably pushing the CRJ right now.

As a more practical point for those choosing aircraft, you'll probably fly a lot more, and make a lot more money on the CRJ for the first year or two. Additionally, getting other domiciles will be possible much sooner on the CRJ. If they ever start letting people transition it will take a really long time to get out of ORD on the 175. As it is right now ORD is way over staffed, tons of reserve lines that get very little flying and seldom break guarantee, and regular lines built to 75 hours. Meanwhile on the CRJ everyone complains about working 90+.

Wait till you get online at Skywest. It's well over 10% here. The place is filled with crazies.

But the 175 is soooo shiny! And...autothrottles! Under-wing engines! Besides, money and QOL are nothing compared the respect and admiration people have for 175 drivers!

Then again, seeing 175 dudes posting pics from the beach as they sit endless long-call reserve, while I commute to multi-day blocks of stand ups gets a little old.

Is this month's DVR looking promising to get home based for you?

Why don't you crawl out of your mom's basement, and go work for CompASS like you said you would?
