I tried that for each route segment but then when I tried to check in it said I needed to see a gate agent. Then the gate agents would say they couldn't select the same priority. The reason I was confused about it is because every time I list and check in it gives me that warning message of the $150 fee if someone isn't actually traveling with you.

Pretty sure it used to be the case on DL, family inherited your priority when traveling with you. I remember because people would list with their family to give them the priority, walk their family to the gate and then leave after they got on.
