Also , are rooms shared during training for ATP CPT, and the rest of training, doens't matter much, just wondering.

If you start class Monday the 8th. You will be around 4000 something on the seniority list. I started on the 25th. Company seniority was mid 3900s. We have moved up 20 something spots in two weeks. Junior captain, which is DTW CRJ is 2500ish. So, 1500 FOs in front of you have to get out of the way, either by A. upgrading, which requires 1500 captains to leave/get fired/retire/lose medical or B. Moving on to another job. 1500 pilots is a lot. The only other way upgrades stay at 24 to 36 months is to add flying. Which is predicated on getting new contracts and the bigger challenge, hiring enough new pilots to expand the seniority list faster than the current attrition rate. I will be surprised if I upgrade in 4 years. But you never know. If attrition stays at 60/month. A new hire could upgrade in 24 months. If the recruiting and training. Department can keep up. Upgrade time is a living breathing document. It's always changing.

How big are we talking?

1500 is a lot but we're losing 40 a month on average and this is when United ha scaled back classes. It's not just captains that leave, a lot of FOs move on to lcc or mainline too. I think upgrade will stay below 3 years even tho we're hitting spots now where classes were around 60. It all depends on how many aircraft we lose, I will say Skywest seems to find homes for them more often than not. Recruiting is keeping up with hiring, they have tripled the size of the team and there's usually a job fair going on almost every week.

Pretty sure it's all double occupancy unless you wanna pay for half of your own room.

Most junior CA is now a 3/31/14 hire, which is 2 years, 4 months. But as others have pointed out, SKW started hiring like crazy in early 2014. I can't imagine that upgrade will get any shorter, and for guys hired in the last year or so, it will probably get longer... Unless we get a lot more flying, of course.

Congrats!

As for me, I ain't going anywhere until I can hold a line in my home base. They could give me a fifth stripe and I still wouldn't commute to reserve again!

Done it before... On a much less efficient airplane (aka bro aka crediting over 4 a day was impossible. No one broke guarantee EVER).

Its gonna suck a bit, but I'm doing anything in my power to become better and more competitive to move on. It'll be at least a year before I can get back to den. And another year for a line. No way am I putting pic on hold for 2 years. I have no idea what this industry will look like next year much less 2 from now!

But i totally get the qol thing. It's hard to give up the ability to pick my days off and always get them. 32 hour 4 day last month, 26 hour 700 4 day (and I dont fly 4 days but that credit sucked me in)
