That is such a myopic viewpoint. So you want to deprive people an important tool to help everybody improve their bids and maintain accountability over the award process for your own selfish reasons?
Transparency is never a bad thing, unless you have something to hide. That being said I voted yes To stop these stupid theories |

It's not a important tool, educating yourself on PBS is the best tool you can have instead of coming up with conspiracy theories, I've yet to see once in the Sapa forums where someone complained and they couldn't figure out where they went wrong. It's not that someone junior go to t, it's that you're too restrictive or don't understand what properties over ride others.
That being said I voted yes To stop these stupid theories All though I do agree that it will balance the playing field with peoples bids in the future. I am Jr. as well, and do just fine with what my seniority can hold by bidding smartly. With awards being made public, I bet my line awards will be less than I want in the future, but will be better for the pilot group in the long term. |
Q: Can other pilots see how I bid?
A: No, only the awarded line can be seen. It is possible in the future that the pilots might be able to see how their bid for pairings percolated through the system among other pilots, but how they bid would still be protected. Come on guys. Do an ounce of reading. Shame |

That being said I voted yes To stop these stupid theories Those who are not getting the schedules their seniority allows them to hold simply do not know how to bid. It would be wise to educate themselves on how the bidding system works. Some properties cannot be used together so PBS will just give you trips of its choosing because you've asked the impossible. I've always had great luck with bidding since my first month with a line because I chose to learn how pbs worked. I will still be voting yes. Many of the ones who haven't taken the time to learn PBS this far likely won't take the effort to learn it now but transparency will be a good thing overall. They better get a few more phone lines for the PBS hotline though. If they think there are complaints now, wait until there's bid transparency. |

My old airline, we could see everyone's award along with everyone's bid. Total transparency and really little issue when the bids came out. We had a version of PBS too.

That being said I voted yes To stop these stupid theories I agree, probably 99% of perceived PBS errors, are actually user errors. However, there have been several times where PBS has messed up, and awarded pairings out of seniority. Although admittedly rare, it has and does happen. Ask any of the guys who have PBS viewership. Remember last year when they had to re-run the entire bid because PBS jacked it up so badly? It's really simple, publishing the awards (not the actual bids) provides more transparency, which makes it easier to spot errors, on the very rare cases that they happen. Nothing more, nothing less. |
There is absolutely stuff happening in pbs. I've proved to them on more than one occasion they awarded something out of seniority. What happens? They please me and get me an extra day off with a partial line guarantee. Do they give me the trip I bid for? Nope.
How many don't even pipe up? Globalization is garbage. |

That being said I voted yes To stop these stupid theories So what happens when I check my reason report? I dropped off the 7th layer and got CN'ed over Christmas and New Years. Double check the trips I should've been able to hold at my seniority, and imagine that, someone junior to me got my trips in layer 5 and 6. Call Mr. Helpful himself (KH) and SAPA. Both tell me, well it's because you bid the same days off in all 7 layers. (Yes I know that was a mistake) but showed them trip numbers and credit amounts that I should've been able to get my hours by layer 6 without it dropping off. KH promises me that he will get a hold of the vendor and find out what happened and if it was a problem with PBS, they will fix it. Anyone who has disputed a PBS error in the past can probably guess what happened next. (If you guessed nothing, you win!!) I will vote yes but anyone who thinks this will do more than fill up KH and the helpdesk voicemail box is up in the night. PBS is broken in that it only does one pass. What we need is an initial bid and then a line improvement window (SW IT should be familiar with this as I believe our sister company has something like this) I just think this will be another DVR or MRS where it is sold as a great tool, but the company will manipulate it into something that is worthless to 90% of the pilot group. Black helicopters aside, there is a reason they have not published the bids up until now, and it has nothing to do with privacy. Let's open up the curtains and expose what is there. Just don't get your hopes up too much that it will lead to any changes. |
