Can one get IAH out of training, if not how long to bid it?

No, IAH is extremely/almost impossible to get. Not sure how those 3 FO's even got it since the base has only shrunk with more time.

It will be the hardest base to get and that's even if it's still around...

It only applies to XJT/ASA/SKW pilots that have left for other carriers (legacy, LLC) and come back. XJT/ASA pilots are still eligible for the $7,500 bonus. Bummer for me, but I'll gladly lose a couple bucks per hour in pay for home base and an opportunity to actually upgrade.
Easy solution. Just leave XJT for an undesirable carrier that will hire you (alligient, spirit..etc)...do a few weeks and then quit and go back to SKW and upgrade real quick as you'll have the time ahead of the new hires with no time. Boom. Soft landing pay AND eventually move to a legacy.

Seriously, who is going to do all that just for a $7500 bonus?

If you're going to do that much work just for money, you may as well just keep an undesirable carrier like Allegiant....considering they make a hell of a lot more than Skywest does....

I haven't seen the actual writing of the policy from the SKW side, but I wouldn't be surprised that as an XJT pilot, I would have to go back to XJT. No point in soft landing on a sinking ship...

Are you able to pick whether you get the CRJ or the 175? Or do they use a OML to determine who gets what?

LMAO exactly. Plus the upgrade at those outfits isn't all too high. One year or less at G4. Leaving a LCC for a regional is downright stupid.

I think the soft landing policy is more effective for someone who doesn't make it through training for whatever reason and decides to come back to their regional.
