Why isn't Skywest paying 15000 signing bonus

I just heard that endouver is now
Paying 5000 sign on bonus and now if you have not only 121 but now 135 experience they will pay you 10,000 plus the additional 5000 signon making it 15000. Why can't skywest offer that, are they really filling all their classes with 100 students.

Also correct me if I am wrong but if a skywest pilot refers another pilot and they get hired does that Skywest pilot get 7500 dollar.

Even Piedmont is offering the same deal as endouver and both are flow through programs

Referral bonus is $1200, not $7,500. I wish!!

Mind if I ask where you heard that? I'd like to know how much 135 time. So them and Envoy are playing the same war. Love it... let's keep upping the ante!

That person that everyone hates, who thinks he has it figured out and is screwed cause he knows it's too late to go to the majors and justifies staying at the regionals as a career choice. Please. Seriously. SAD.

I do wonder, though...

How long before SKW retires the RJ fleet, especially the -200s? Serious question.

When the majors tell them to. Over the next few years. Serious answer.

I personally think that you will see the 50 seaters flying for a lot longer than most people speculate.

You can pick up a CRJ-200 airframe without engines for less than $100K these days. You can probably get some mid-time CF-34's for less than $600K a pop.

That makes for a very cheap platform. I don't even think that increasing oil prices will put a dent into it any time soon.

You will see those flying as long as airlines can staff the equipment and there are no gate space limitations in the hub airports...

Hiring freeze didn't start until January 2013.

In regard to FAs, I read an article most companies are having issue with hiring applicants that they have been accustomed to through the recession. Now companies have to compete with an ounce worth of effort. I believe they call it capitalism.

^^^
supply and demand ... also applies to pilots ...
let's see how it all shakes out.

Thanks! It sounds like a wait of 6-9 months from training to get PDX then. For you all with families/significant others what do you do when you start at a ORD or MSP base for several months when you ultimately want to live west coast? Do you advise finding a temporary apt for 6-9months or commuting. Right now my wife and I are in PHX but moving for this job. Just don't know where to yet.

With oil cheap again, it'll be awhile. Skywest makes good money on many of the at-risk flying we do, and with no more turboprops really being built, the -200 is the next best thing into those small towns. It does kinda suck to see some much newer -700's going away while the -200 sticks around. Some of those long flights to the West Coast we do from DEN in the -200 should be on a -700 simply for customer service stand point. But then there is scope clauses that prevent too many >50 seaters from flying around. (which I agree with) But would United put a 737-700 on flights from DEN to Redmond? Only time will tell.
