Thanks! It sounds like a wait of 6-9 months from training to get PDX then. For you all with families/significant others what do you do when you start at a ORD or MSP base for several months when you ultimately want to live west coast? Do you advise finding a temporary apt for 6-9months or commuting. Right now my wife and I are in PHX but moving for this job. Just don't know where to yet.
CRJ: July 2015 hire E175: October 2015 hire If you really want to be based in PDX, you may want to go with the E175. It'll be painful commuting to reserve in ORD at first. There may be a wait to start class too if you want the E175. I commuted initially to MSP for two months. The first month I was reserve and I split hotel rooms with other guys from my class, and I spent just a little more than if I had gotten a crashpad. Second month, I got a commutable line and didn't need a crashpad or hotel. I just commuted back and forth. Lots of people will get a crashpad if needed, and depending on the city, will run you $175-$350 a month. |

Ejet bases are ORD, DEN, PDX, SEA, SFO, and LAX (May). No base announcement yet for the Delta E175s.

LAX starts in May. It has been awarded already. Most junior guy is 09/15. All bases pretty much the same. Most junior is definitely ORD. If you want west coast base plan to spend at least 6 months in ORD reserve |
In reality it's not really as bad as the six months sounds. By the time your done with ground, sims, and ioe you'll only have about three months to commute. Hope that helps. Good luck

Reality is 19 Delta EJets and a hand full more for AS plus all the UA EJets coming. I figure atleast 30 of the next 50 will be west coast airplanes. That 400 new "west coast" pilots needed

I believe most people are underestimating the impact these 35+ 175's due to be delivered in less than 6 months will have. Things are going to shake up quite a bit.
