I'd actually be curious to see...of the recently-departed pilots, how many of them were in, say, the top 25% of the company? Where'd that "Gone" listing go? It used to be on the old SAPA forums and was always interesting.
@ ten YOS you'd be approx in the top 30% company wide. |

Well, considering that the pilot group just voted in a SAPA VP who is former management, and is about as hard-line a 'company man' as it's possible to be, all I can say is: we get what we deserve. RJ and JB at the top of SAPA? CC and MT must be laughing their tails off at how gullible a pilot group we are. IMO though in such a hiring market the status quo will put CC/TG/MT jobs in jeopardy by the people who own the company...wall st. This summer will be interesting. Right now it doesn’t matter who is in SAPA (minus ZM). Company will need to save the company. |

Additional AS 175 deliveries
I know that originally when they made the announcement about SkyWest getting an addition 20 e175s for AS that they said the delivery would be slow. But it’s definitely really slow. It’s been almost 2 and half months since we have seen a delivery. QX just announced today that they have taken delivery of the first of 15 e175s for the year of 2018. Still quiet over here at OO. We were “supposed” to have 5 175s come to PDX by the end of the summer. Any word on what’s happening with the AS deliveries? Are we still on track?

The question, having always been in an environment where the supply of well qualified applicants really exceeded the demand,is this; are ANY of the regional managements going to be able to get past their denial that demand is now exceeding supply? Or at least get past that denial before they lose the people they need to other managements that understood that new realty sooner.

Skywest has always avoided having a pilots union because they have paid market rate for pilots and treated the pilots well. They were careful who they hired to avoid conflicts.
When they locked in the pilots to subpar pay last year it assures them high profits for the next 4+ years. Endeavor and the others are starting to pass Skywest by large amounts and it will get worse as other contracts come up. New pilots will go where the money is when there is such a difference. Without enough incoming pilots, Skywest will shrink as needed. With low pay, negative growth coming soon, I don't see Skywest being able to stop a Union push. I hate to say that. Maybe not soon, but in 2 years, yes. Two years after that a contract, right about the time the current agreement ends. |

I have been talking with more and more guys with 10, 15, 20 years plus like myself that are dusting off their logbooks and updating their resumes. The wonderful lady in records says she receives around 10 to 15 requests a week from individuals for pilot flight time records. The exodus from here will follow the curve from the majors retirement profile, if not greater. I predict the CFI that is coming to SkyWest today will be bypassing the regional product all together and go right to the ULCC's within 2 to 3 years. And if you think about it SkyWest is really just maybe one tier up from Great Lakes. Per their article in the Denver Post, their death was primarily attributed to the inability to attract and retain pilots, thus numerous cancellations. The time to leave is now. |
After reading T.T.’s ‘From the Top’ I’m reassured! 100 “new” airplanes in the last 18 months! Wow!!!
I flew a “new” one not too long ago something something something XJ. Must have come “new” from the factory with no fuel senders in the left wing! Nice! #regionalchurnrembercomair |
