Has there ever been a time when the pilot group didn't bend over and take it?

The company stated one of the reasons was the difficulty of printing and distributing updated checklists to all the planes in an orderly way. How about you don't do it very often, seriously, updating checklist too often has it's own safety issues.
FltOps dept is really dropping the ball on this, the last checklist just removed was in for a year.
How about this, put out a FOIB> new checklist, print and carry or use electronic until all A/C checklist have been updated.
Problem solved.

I feel if we bumped bottle to throttle from 8 to 4 hours this checklist thing would soon be forgotten.

Have you ever had 2 checklists out at a time? It's ridiculous to have 2

Delta has 2 per airplane.

Sorry, didn't mean to generalize. But it's not necessary to have two.

Delta also uses the lovely surface. Point?

Nice simple solution. Nothing changed on the updated checklist anyway, besides removing the bars on the side indicating what was updated a year ago. It seems someone got a little too exited about moving everything to the efb. I am hoping those in control of this get enough feedback to....realize their oops moment before one of us pilots has our own oops moment while heads down looking for the checklist.
