3.85% of credit is accrued. Let's say you get worked 90 hours a month, that's 41 hours of vacation for the year.

We "get to" pay 2.5-4 hours per vacation day as we see fit. So you're looking at 10-16 days a year. For anything below 5 years. Of course senior guys get it better. I'll post a screen. I used 7 days at 2.5 recently and ended up with 16 off. So stretching them by using them at 2.5 is not a good plan

I was surprised at the pay too when I transitioned to jet CA. But that's the rough gross. PBS likes to assign 85-90, but I drop down (and drop trips) on the rare occasions it lets me. I think I'm getting more per-diem from multiday trips, and most awarded trips tend to actually block higher than scheduled. Our schedules do take me through flow-prone hubs a lot.

Being based at SFO seems like at least a 10% bump.

Not recommended for commuters however

That seems like a ridiculously low amount of hours/days of vacation to me. I must be missing something. When I calculate the conversion, xjt pilots accrue:

0 YOS: .0292
2nd through 6th YOS: .0583
7th through 10th YOS: .0875
11th and subsequent YOS: .1167

Probably not. I understand we have about the lowest accrual rate in the industry.

I'll get about 80 hours a year to use. I can use it at a rate of 2.5 up to 4.0? hours per day. We get it as a pre assignment for PBS. I always select 2.5 hours per day so a week would take 17.5 hours. Now with PBS it's possible to get a couple more unpaid days off on either side or work the days right next to the vacation.. With 17+ years I get around 4 weeks off a year theoretically. The problem with using 2.5 is that PBS is still going to build you a 85-90 hour line. It'll force more flying onto your schedule to make up the difference.

The other issue is to actually hold vacation slots. They are pretty much 100% taken on the CA side.... So even if you accrue more, there may be little use for it if you have little seniority.

Yep. Unless you want the first week off in December.

And they reduce the number of slots in summer when everyone wants it off.

Don't they actually have enough slots throughout the year to cover the amount accrued? I assume that means you roll ever your accrued time? Do people use vacation time as a lump sum retirement/resignation payout?

There are not sufficient slots to cover accrual.

People generally get paid out when they quit.
