SWA hiring
#273
Has anyone left a PHENOMENAL corporate job to come to SWA? I’m talking G650/550, Global Express, Falcon 7x, $200,000+ with awesome co-workers type of job. Does anyone regret leaving it?
I’m not talking about carrying a pager 24/7 job. I’m talking top-tier not often talked about corporate 91 jobs.
Thanks.

I left for the long-term outlook. Senior FOs can beat that salary. I like the job, miss the coworkers. No regrets.

Yes. Not quite the phenomenal 91 job like I know you mean, but good gig. CE680. Good job in the Midwest. Salary close to what you stated if you included benefits/retirement.

And no. I’m talking about rather large corporations with established flight departments, not individual owners. One in particular has been around for 80 years.

I did not, sort of. I did use my suit pants and shirt at a later new-hire dinner where my class did our little senior class skit presentation thingy. But no, coat and tie was not required after that first day.
I kept it handy and available just in case, because you know, just in case. Plenty of hypothetical scenarios where I could end up wanting very badly to be able to dress up to sit at the big kids table. It didn't happen (didn't expect it to) but if any of the dozen or so friends I have in Dallas and at SWA invited me to an event, I would have been prepared. Good fortune is often what people call it when they're prepared to take advantage of the opportunities they're presented with.

Ford had a pretty good flight department...until they didn’t. Just keep your eyes open if job stability is a consideration. More recently, guys at GE probably were likely comfortable in their jobs until they got a new CEO who didn’t waste any time putting his stamp on things...
