I'm not speaking from any kind of authority here but I think people are way over thinking hours and its importance. If your military and you have currency I don't think you need to worry so long as you meet the minimums. Now if you are separating early or some how have drastically fewer hours than every one else (PIC) that could be a issue but then there is not much you can do about that aside from staying in active service (I wouldn't advise this), or going regional initially if you don't get the call and build hours.

Apply with what you got, if it works great, if not then have backup plans for if you don't get the call.

Minimum of a four-year degree is the biggest thing. I'm not speaking from authority either. Even though it's "preferred" it's still quietly "mandatory."

Definitely not true. Two in my class had an associates degree. I also know of at least 2 new hires in the last few months that had only a HS diploma, but both had the 737 type.

What percentage of recent civilian hires have had some kind of 121 or 135 training or check airman experience?

There are examples of people getting hired without a degree, but they are few and far between. You can say that overwhelming majority of newhires have a degree. (I don't know the statistics but would guess well over 90%). You can't say that about the type. On the contrary, majority of newhires don't have a type rating.

Who knows, seems like a crapshoot. I’m a retiring military guy with a Masters degree, close to 4000 TT, current with about 170 hrs in last year. I’ve applied last two windows but still nothing. But, still just under 6 months from availability. Hoping for a call next window.

The general trend at my squadron is most guys/gals are not getting calls until they are about 60 days from availability. While we have one guy who already has a job offer from AA at over 10 months out he is a outlier and I've only heard of those kinds in very specific cases. Trust me I know its painful, I'm in the same boat only 4 months out but at the Expo they also reinforced not to expect anything until I was closer ( at the time I was nearly 6 months out). Keep applying to each window that was specifically mentioned, keep updating, keep current, and you'll likely be good. I keep saying it to myself too =D

I was told exactly the same thing by one of their recruiters during my interview regarding the 1000hrs TPIC.

I think there are so many variables to the selection process that an applicant should make every attempt to meet and/or exceed the posted requirements. Just when someone says, the college degree is a requirement, you hear of someone who was hired without one, and you can fill in the blanks with almost every other requirement as an example. They are very keen to find the person who clearly is a good fit and one who is most likely not going to bail for........given an opportunity. I think someone posted somewhere that they are losing around 5/month on average to the legacy carriers.

That was the case prior to our current contract signed in Nov 2016. I don’t think it’s anywhere near that nowadays. Maybe the recent hires can chime in with more current numbers.
