Like the cabin for the pax, the cockpit has been
designed with ergonomics in mind....
Why does the skipper still have that blazer on?

I roll my eyes when pilots get excited they have to press 3 less buttons to something on a flights compared to a plane they flew before. God the laziness!
Airbus 220 is no regional jet. It has more range than a 700, while burning less fuel than a MAX7. It's more comfortable than a Boeing 737 for passengers with 2x3 seating and wider seats. The flight deck is quieter, more ergonomic, and offers better avionics and automation than the MAX. It's even manufactured right here in the USA, thanks to Boeing meddling in the KC-X selection and the Delta/Bombardier C-Series deal.

It's a great airplane that we can either purchase and offer a excellent product with, or use it's presence in the marketplace to drive a better deal on the MAX7.

I think GK is playing businessman. He wants replacements for older airplanes and trolling Boeing for cheaper deals.

I’d rather buy a domestic product, but if it comes down to the French jet I’ll believe it when I see it.

Are you under the impression that Airbus is French?

It's built in Alabama.

Carries the same number of pax as a -700 in all coach configuration. Has better range and runway performance than a 737.

It's a heck of a machine.

That said, I am confident we will end up with the Max 7 at fire sale prices.

I don't believe they are bluffing just to get a better price on the MAX7 or another variant of the MAX, though this may be the final result. I firmly believe that they are serious about a new type after the debacle that has been the MAX. The news out of Boeing WRT the culture and regard for safety since that crisis began is disturbing. Certainly, they are doing the best for the shareholders and it wouldn't be appropriate to NOT look at other options.

The next order will be for hundreds of airframes so it's important for all parties to take this very seriously.

Indeed. SWA wouldn’t place an order for 50 A220s. We have approximately 500 -700 NGs that need to get replaced. So we’re talking about an order into the hundreds. Sure we have pricing leverage with Boeing but we’d have it on the A220 with Airbus as well.

Also, let us not forget that they’ve made public statements about being interested in the A321LR/XR as well so possibly a combination order from Airbus.

In the end though, Eeyore is probably right. We’ll be riding out the rest of our careers in the torture chamber that is the 737 MAX cockpit.

There’s really nothing on that market right now quite like the A220. Southwest will have a difficult decision on their hands even if Boeing gives them a fire sale price on the MAX.

I don’t think we need something that can do the same thing as something we have already, even if it’s marginally cheaper it’ll economies of scale etc would make up for that. We need something that can do either smaller markets or longer legs more efficiently IMO but GL hasn’t asked for my opinion yet just my 10%. I’m in the furlough zone and I don’t want to spend the next 2-3 contracts trying to get that 10% back or whatever the FM clause destroys
