I’m amazed at some of those numbers on the 2019 pay thread. There are captains some places in the 3-5 year zone making good money without working themselves to an early grave. Looking at our recent contract comparison, we are pay lagging FOs big time in those years, much less having the ability to upgrade. My QOL living in base has been great, but we are leaving a ton of money on the table in that 2nd-8th year, and at the very end of a career. Wonder how that’s playing out recruiting the best crop of new hires.

To those who think that the culture here is superior to anywhere else, I must say that the final nail has been driven.
20 plus years and the 15 or so Christmas' worked and this is the first year where NOTHING was given. It’s always been a small trinket, but it meant something. I can’t believe how bothered I am by this.
The culture has always been a game changer for me. We cared and looked out for one another. I was happy to make a little less because it was made up for in security and general cheerfulness.
Now, that is all gone. My input is discouraged. My gifts to the flight attendants go by without a thank you.
Future pilots beware. Make your own reasons for applying here, but what was once Herb's airline has been degraded to a sterile corpse.
The Warrior spirit is dead.

FWIW, I've worked more than a few Christmases at WN, (but not in the last 15 years or so), and have never received any kind of gift from the company. That must've started and ended since I've been senior enough
o get holidays off. Heck, we were lucky to be able to BUY a meal on a holiday layover, and were really lucky if we got one for free.

Christmas presents?
Culture?
I’m here to make money and go home.
Not make friends and get silly gifts.
I finished elementary school a long time ago.
If I want to have “fun” I save up a bunch of cash. I’m a big boy and the fun I like to have is in no way appropriate at work.

I haven’t worked a Christmas in a few years, but the gift was a silly token. I think I got a passport wallet, a cutting board, and some socks. Was it a nice gesture? Uh, I guess. Did it really have any material effect on the way I view the company. No.
Hotel meals are set up by the CAB as part of the hotel contract. I am batting about 50 percent on them complying. If it happens then great. If not, I am buying for whoever wants to come hang with me.
