I used to interact and innocently “joke” around with the FA’s quite often..,albeit nothing offensive. Had an FA tell a wildly inappropriate joke a few weeks ago (didn’t offend me/and if it did, I wouldn’t go tell Mother)..so I just turned around and kept preflighting. It’s all business now. No more food runs, coffee runs, shoulder to whine on about this and that. If anyone is choosing this company as a new hire because they think the “good ole culture” is still alive, they are making a mistake. Make that decision for the other reasons; base, stability, etc. It’s still a good, profitable, established company to work for, but has issues just like every other place. As far as culture, I don’t even recognize this place from where it was 15 years ago.

there wasn’t anything from the company this year. We got a sun shade from the LAX chief pilot this year.

Every time I fly with a captain who says they had choices but came here because the “fun atmosphere was worth the lower pay and qol”, and “I’d rather be productive and fly 850 hours a year to earn what my peers do”, I want to scream. This is a great company with lots of advantages, but don’t use that as an excuse for not having the nads to fight for industry standard.

Hopefully the change in demographics will be enough in the next contract to get serious and settle an industry leading contract quickly.

Fingers crossed that the demographic is changing, but I will not be holding my breath.

Yup. They decided to go pay $10 grand for a 737 type rating too. Because of the fun atmosphere.

Don’t think we will settle an industry leading contract quickly. IMO, if it’s quickly done it won’t be industry leading....

Why would a LCC have an industry leading contract. Doesn't that go against the business model? If they have plenty of applicants and people staying?
