Eeyore, let's look at this from the cheapskate airline pilot perspective.

You could possibly hold OAK this summer as a captain because it just might suck being a plug - think ZFW issues, commute, OAK, age 70, you name it. That alone triggers the Hard 8's clause which also precludes mommy's gift cards. And if you bypass this time and this goes senior the next bid period and if for whatever reason, you can't hold it, you're definitely on the hook for BBQ AND stuck in the right seat again. You don't wanna do that because by the time you're done paying the tab, you'll wish you had upgraded.

100% CA everywhere!

Reason being we don’t have “alternates” in our CBA, so if you choose not to go that vacancy goes unfilled which is a problem for training scheduling, but also takes a vacancy from someone who might have actually wanted to be there.

Im in the same boat as you, I have vacation in June, July, and August. Next month I’m available is September, but by then as E6B said, it’ll be back to being way senior to me. And then there’s the age 67 monkey wrench that could grind everything to a halt real fast. (Insert Eeyore image here)
Outsider prospective. How long have you been waiting? Absolutely bid for it, follow the contract, and make them follow it to.

Are you kidding?! After all you’ve been through in your career, you should feel free to be a little selfish. Bid it for Juiy or August and then go in September.

If it’s in the contract that they can’t send you to training during a vacation month then who cares if they’ll try to “strong arm” you. Eff that.

Same thing for when they try to move me up for CQT. Homie don’t play that. My base month is my base month for a reason. There are alternate “creative” ways that I make sure I stay in my base month.

They have no qualms about utilizing creative contract interpretations and practices and neither should you. If they don’t like it then maybe they can come to the table and actually be open to a full rewrite.

5th & 20th.

Bid if you want it. Etops is a 6 mo seat lock and closest you’ll get to home is Vegas. Not worth it for me, but YMMV. I also wouldn’t go in a VA month or give up my trips with family. They can work around it…just like I have to work around being constantly moved up for CQT every year.

Oh, you’ll get your cursed BBQ you charlatan! I hope you choke on a delicious beef rib! 😉

Looks like I’m also going to owe Stitches a $50 Visa gift card. Stitches drop me a PM with your details and I’ll get that on its way to you as soon as the bid closes with a 2014 hire in the seat.

It ain’t over until the fat lady sings though, and though I admit it looks like you’re going to walk away with this one, let’s just see what happens.

How does one see the projections for lance in each base? As in how far one is away

There’s a Lance Projection tool thing in the SRC page on SWAPA site. Will tell how many in each base, etc. So you can use your seniority number and figure where you’d be in different bases to see if you’re close. I’m bidding CA 100% in my base so not sure which will happen first.

Lol, I knew this thread would get lit when I saw the projections. Upgrade typically goes a bit senior to the projections as guys wait to submit their bids. That said with so many slots, and 60+ more next month I think both bets are pretty safe. We will see for sure next week…
