Heads up folks.

23.D.d of the CBA says “A pilot shall not be required to train or travel to or from training during his awarded vacation period(s).”

Seems pretty black and white, but it turns out crew planning doesn't see it that way. The company believes that section applies only to CQT.

If you are planning to upgrade during a month when you have vacation, they'll allow you (if awarded) to move the vacation, but they won't honor it and allow you to delay until the next class following your vacation. (They were very nice about it. Don't want you to think they were adversarial at all. The person I spoke to was understanding and even a little apologetic)

If you want to keep the vacation week they'll suggest that you to change your vacancy to remain an FO until after your vacation and try again another time.

Called Contract Admin and they said that since SWAPA has allowed this in the past, it's precedent and they haven't been able to get the company to budge on it.

Something to think about when you're bidding vacation and considering when you think you might like to upgrade.

FYI, for those upgrading, if you think the odds are good. Be ready at closing of the vacancy to load up your board with ANY trips. They will lock you out in about 2 minutes. So you have a thin opportunity to make alot more money because it will all be pulled for upgrade. I'm amazed when people have no idea of what they are doing here. Make it worth your while.

are you locked when the award email comes out or do you just have to cross your fingers you got the award after you binge on trips?

oak TTGA has trips on the 20th and 26th offering a return policy for those on the cusp of upgrade…but don’t you have friends or new hire class mates that would take their trips back?
