I hadn't read his new, today, email when I wrote that. After reading it there is less confusion, there still will be new hires in class before ExTO are all back. Not sure if that matters and I dont care.
strong rumor is there will be 3 new hire classes starting before the end of the yr.
upgrades starting in Sept which may be a few of those on ExTO. Sounds like all good news.
64 max 7 deliveries next yr with 40 additional options and 30-35 aircraft retirements. So at least 30 more planes in growth and maybe 70.

No way in hell I’d commute to reserve to be in charge. I had to start over late in the game but I thoroughly take advantage of my right seat responsibilities or more accurately the lack of.
“Parking checklist complete, nice flying with you” Driving home before the plane is empty.
“What’s the problem with boarding? Oh, I’m going to shop for boat parts. LMK when you’re ready to push”
”getting food and going for a walk. Will make push”
Already did the captain thing.

Omg. Someone who gets it. Totally agree.
Been in charge, enjoyed it, hope to do it again some day, not in a hurry...at all.
You can always tell when you are flying with someone who "gets" what being a captain is all about vs. flying with power trip guy. It makes a world of difference in how fast three days go by.

Weird to me that they are citing the lack of upgrades as a reason to not bring back EXTO FOs and yet they are hiring before they do recalls. The only answer to that is a big push for upgrades in the next 12 months that is going to balance the load next summer. I hope we don't end up with a manning situation like we did in 2018-19.

New hires will be timed to start hitting the line right as the last of the ExTOs are back. New hire training footprint is much longer than ExTO training footprint, so new hires could very likely be in class before the last ExTOers.

Wonder how many Upgrades we’re looking at over the next year? I’m a early 2016 hire and will be a hard pass on commuting to reserve just for the left seat. Been there, done that got the t-shirt. Of course my tune may change in 4 years when my son starts college...regardless it’s nice to finally have some good news in the rumor mill.

Me thinks you’ll have to make that decision much sooner than 4 years from now.
