As of now it’s $9,100 per month they are going to $10,100 per month plus a $30,000 per yr bonuses for two years then on the line. First year instructor pay was $4,100 per month. My ask has increased significantly. No way an instructor should make any where near any pilot salary.

Knowing this company, they're probably including the new hire bonus, 401k contribution, and company paid health insurance premiums in their "$170k starting salary".

At NK every instructor except Initial ground school instructors make more than the pilots. That is because every instructor is on the pilot seniority list, and gets an override to instruct.

Thats great. They aren’t line pilots here. Many never even flew a 737. No override needed.

Hey, give me a break. It's nice to be better than SWA in 1 CBA area.

Don't think he intended it that way. SWA struggles with new industry leading innovations such as inflight wifi, aerodata, and these new fangled things called apps (mobile applications for short).

Nope nothing bad meant by it. But our instructors shouldn’t be paid pilot wages. Ours aren’t line guys. We should have been doing that years ago. But it was cheaper probably to have separate low paid instructors. My min for this contract went way up!

Exactly! Instructors should be paid more. Other than swinging the gear and moving a flap lever now and then… compare your day to a classroom/simulator instructor’s.

The only way the instructors should be paid more is if they’re on our seniority list and also fly.

What’s the reasoning for that? They have to hold all the qualifications including ATP, type rating, etc. Only one not required is a medical. In this market anyone who holds those quals and can effectively teach will demand competitive pay. Supply and demand, it’s obvious or why else did they raise the pay? You’ve got enough people signing up to be SW pilots yet not sim instructors. Therefore they raised pay. Surprised all the guys up in arms about instructors being compensated well.
