Oh I know, and Ive done it before... I just don't know why we have such a crazy ideal jammed into long time WN guys that they have to save fuel at the expense of cooking people.

Apologies for interrupting but I have a hiring question.
Theres been a rumour going round my European airline for the best part of a year that Southwest will soon be opening recruitment to foreign pilots and even sponsoring them for immigration. I even heard today that it’s all but a done deal, they just need to persuade the unions. Any truth or just wishful thinking?

I don't see how SWAPA could prevent it however. There's no language about who SWA can hire.

Don't see it. Southwest is a slow moving company, don't expect anything radical from them. They will hire lower time pilots with right to work in the USA already and Destination 225 program will be expanded before sponsoring overseas pilots.

Thanks for the reply. Figured it was probably too good to be true. Seems like SW haven’t exhausted all their options stateside yet. Wonder if it’s another airline working on it and we’ve got a case of Chinese whispers. Interesting that SWAPA wouldn’t be able to stop it if it were true. Could the general APA be lobbying Washington to keep the international avenue closed or is that outside of their remit?

Right fit for who/what? This airline hasn't been run by Flight Ops for some time now. A conspiracy theorist might say this is a well-orchestrated plan to get pilots in the door that won't rock the boat by picketing and demanding a top tier contract. Now you might argue that this is the same company that can't plan itself out of a wet paper bag, which I would agree with 100% in terms of front line operations. But the behind the scenes: HR and lawyers running the show, profits over people decisions from upper management. I don't think those things are by accident.
