Default Instructor role

Hi all. To add to this thread, I’m an 8 year regional guy who recently lost my medical.
Really interested in the Southwest instructor position being advertised as Southwest was my first choice major anyway. Anyone have any insights?
I read somewhere that SWAPA was grieving the direct-entry, full-time position so
A) Would I be unpopular with classmates/colleagues in this role?
B) Would I get rolled in to the general pilot group if the role goes away (assuming I can get my medical back!)
Any insights would be extremely helpful!! TIA.

No technical or MMPI type stuff?

Someone who’s gone through recently would have to chime in but….it’s more personality driven. You can train a monkey to fly a plane….it’s more: “do I want to spend an extended amount of time trapped in a small space with you” kind of interview.

I’m guessing some of the situational based ?’s will expose some kind of procedural/knowledge but I honestly don’t know how many ?’s or what kind they ask.

Three-part interview; Logbook review, HR panel, scenario based panel.
Logbook review - ...
HR Panel - Questions to know you and why SWA. Be yourself and be honest with them and with yourself, just my two cents.
Scenario - Nothing technical, just trying to see where your thoughts are. At least that's what it seemed like to me.

According to the hiring people (in a recent company video) they said the average newhire candidate has 5000 hours. The scenario based question and answer session replaced the line ops timed scenario.

What did they get one guy with 5100 hours? People who average about 29 years of age probably don't have 6000 hours... so I don't know how what the hiring people are calculating.

Any guesses on how much seniority would be lost by interviewing in early -jan vs next week considering the holidays and when classes will likely start?…asking for a friend

Take a little advice from an old guy with a long resume. In this business you take the FIRST interview, the FIRST class date. You can always go elsewhere later.

But skipping even ONE class could be the difference between a furlough, or staying on property…
between getting the domicile you want or a cross country commute…
between reserve or lineholder…
between working weekends and holidays, or being at home…
between upgrade or stagnation…

Get your number. THEN go do whatever was more important between now and January.
