I read on the SWAPA Forum that they tried that in one of the lounges and when the Pilot talking with Scheduling went to pass the phone the Scheduler said everyone had to call individually and hung up.

“We’ve got the lowest delayed flight percentage of the Big 4, awesome!” - someone in SWA management, probably.

Silver lining….

This is going to open up so many non rev opportunities going forward. I figure six months of non rev bliss before people forget.

Am I reading it right that they threatened to fire the rampers over Christmas for calling in sick without an in person doctor’s visit, in a city where employers can only legally require a doctor’s note for an absence of more than 4 days?

Sounds like a genius way to push an already overworked and underappreciated group into 3 days of illness…. And rack up some awesome wrongful termination lawsuits.

yup. Also, the company doesn’t provide any cold weather gear for -30* temps. Rampers who showed up risked frostbite and a couple went to the hospital for it.

I hope they get a good OJI lawyer and milk em for all they can.

Insane. It’s in the job description to work through bad weather, however it’s absolutely unacceptable that the company doesn’t provide safe gear to do so.

I don’t know. I saw two cases of “community phone” and Scheds was fine with it. About 9 people at a time each.
