They need to replace anyone associated w/ MD leadership immediately. Get engineer executives back in control and consider going private to remove shareholder pressure.

MAX 8's and MAX 7's do not even have them. Want another fine example of modern day idiocy? MAX 7 platform was used to re-certify MAX 8, but it's not certified itself years later...

I know, I know... I keep forgetting the new standard... 'Never shall anything ever break or malfunction, for if it does, the whole thing is deemed unsafe and will not be certified.'

These same people are the same idiots who will happily "forget" their proclamations about "never getting on xyz aircraft" if the price is right, and they'll do it albeit without the similar fanfare as their initial proclamations. Case in point - our MAX aircraft usually tend to get very full and no one gives two feces about it.

Lastly, the 737 has had far worse issues i.e. hardover rudder. Yet we didn't ground it. We fixed it. We addressed it. We didn't ground fleets. We didn't shut down airlines over it. We didn't give every freak a podium and a bullhorn. But now we do... because clickbait sells, and thanks to clickbait nonsense, the standard now is 'Never shall anything ever break or malfunction, for if it does, the whole thing is unsafe.' And self-appointed experts, i.e. useful idiots, are propagating this in the form of further clickbait.

Maybe I'm just getting old and have zero time and no tolerance for self-proclaimed experts who have absolutely ZERO clue about what they're talking about, even if they are from Delta Air Lines.
I love this post…

Could not be said better!! It’s hard watching people exist in the modern day environment. The media loves fear and panic because they sell, and fear and panic is the easiest thing to get stirred up amongst the masses. Whether it’s China viruses, airplanes crashing, or mass shootings, they know how to get people screaming.

Nevermind the airplanes we all used to fly with a tendency for prop over speeds, super critical wings that could handle zero ice, Air France 447’s issues, RTX engine issues, or the most recent wing spar cracking AD from the EASA on all A320 models. Boeing has contributed to this by not being better, but the media and government have been relentless. It’s like we are all rooting for the largest American exporter to fail.

This needs to be said again and again. When you look at the thousands of companies that rely on Boeing to survive it’s honestly shocking.

No one is rooting for them to fail. We want them to be a company that takes its obligations to build aircraft that we trust with our family’s lives seriously. Boeing has proven in the last fifteen years that excellence in engineering and design is secondary to pampering its shareholders. That needs to change or the biggest exporter in the country *will* go out of business.

Now do 737 hardover rudder…. or A320 flying into trees at an air show. Or how about that Embraer that was doing steep turns over ATL a few years back? Ooops….. politics reared its ugly head. This has nothing to do with safety anymore. This is all political theater.

Every airplane or a piece of machinery is liable to malfunction. How many thousands of hours per DAY are flown by MAX aircraft not just in this country but around the world? Unsafe my a$$!

Did we reach the time in history that indeed any malfunction shall be grounds for immediate grounding and never certifying another Boeing jet, and even the one that was used to recertify the previously certified one without itself ever getting certified due to clickbait purposes?

100% agree. We are flying pressurized metal tubes through the sky at nearly the speed of sound, all over the world, day/night and practically any weather, and it’s the safest known form of transportation in the world. Boeing is doing something right. We need to figure out the root cause of the bolts not being installed, fix it, and apply that lesson. Aviation just got even safer.

Pratt is getting a lot of backlash for its 321NEO engine recall. The reason why Pratt has the issue is because they pushed the boundaries of technology and built the best jet engines on the planet. Building a modern jet engine is hard. China can’t even build anything close to the modern day jet engines that Pratt, GE, Rolls Royce, and CFM produce.

Would we rather stick with old technology that burns way more fuel, or would we rather have top of the line technology and deal with the occasional recall to make it even safer?

Companies like Boeing, Pratt, etc… are literally scheduling inventions. Let’s cut them a little slack when they need to take a delay to make things safer.

Well put. I'm still amazed that every time we take a Max to Hawaii, it burns 1000 gallons less fuel than an -800. That's still amazing to me. It means more fuel for contingencies, and more payload to make us money.

Boeing has unfortunately been caught in the crosshairs of the media, which means that the politicians have to show they’re “doing something.” Nobody is saying Boeing is without fault, but every airplane when looked at as thoroughly as the Max will get more and more unsafe in the eyes of the public as time goes on….unless they’re perfect.

Thank goodness we have Senator Tammy Duckworth, Pete Buttigieg, or occasionally even Chelsey B Sullenberger to steer us in the right direction about the Boeing. 🤦🏻‍♂️ It would be refreshing to see great leadership and have common sense prevail. But, as long as all these people are the experts that everybody listens to, this is what we get.
