Southwest doesn’t have any 737 MAX 9’s.

They are getting the 737 MAX 9 pay rates (as well as MAX 10 pay rates and even 757 pay rates), but they are not flying those aircraft. Just 737-800 (and MAX 8) and 737-700 (and eventually MAX 7).

SWA has over ten billion of treasury stock on the balance sheet. You never know. They would really have to be cornered to force it. GK is still Chairman and Bob is still here. Both have one thing in common. All were mentored under Herb. Herb never liked different fleet types and tech. I don't how many times Boeing can slap SWA in the face and say please can I have another. Airbus deliveries are tied up all the way out till the next decade. The only way to get another type would probably be an acquisition. That would be messy.

I know. It’ll never happen under today’s management. I don’t think you can take the AutoThrust out of FiFi.

AW has said you need 4 or 5 different aircraft to be diversified. A 50 50 split would accomplish nothing accept add cost. He said it isnt worth it. Dont shoot the messanger thats just what AW mentioned. UAL mentioned it should be able to handle the grounding with minimal impact with other fleets. Saying about 60 canceleations per day until rectified. A 50 50 here would still be over 2000 canceled.

He said the same thing to a group of pilots asking him. He said if 50% of our fleet went down it still wouldn’t be enough to save the company from a BK loss. This company won’t buy anyone till a more corporate friendly president is in office. Biden’s administration has been trying to stop JetBlue and spirit from marrying. I can’t wait to see what he does with alaska and Hawaiian.

We couldn't handle a grounding of 8's now. That's some serious financial hurt. The fact we are in the low season of flying now, they can easily accommodate passengers to there destination. Although their are other similiar type aircraft as the 7(seat wise), when you factor in 100% mx commonality, spare parts, pilot training and it would fly 100% of our missions, it's hard to sell that to BJ and GK to change.

He probably won't last long enough to stop it, one way or another.

Also the HA acquisition plausibly saves local service and jobs and should have HI congressional support (all Dem). As opposed to letting HA wither on the vine and eventually file.
