Just saying that options aren’t what they were a year ago. Spirit guys will be looking for work and as an Alpa carrier might have a front line to an interview at the big 3. It’s more competitive now because there’s fewer slots so they don’t have to take the guy with 1600 hrs and no degree over someone more qualified. Days of fogging a mirror to get a job are done for now.

What does ALPA have to do with a furloughee getting an interview with another ALPA carrier, practically speaking. Honest question. Nothing contractual, right?

In past furlough events some pilot groups were able to score a preferential interview at some carriers. Example, after ATA, several were interviewed at SWA (not ALPA, but still deals get made).

Wasn't that because SWA essentially took over their gates at MDW and watched as ATA folded?

You may want to read up a bit on that.

WN wanted the gates and the hanger . SWA did not just sit and watch. That said, I get it ,all is fair in big business. I just wanted them to take the ATA pilots . They where a great group and this place would have been a better place with all of them here. JMO .

Wasn't a requirement to interview, and many ATA pilots had the 737 type anyway.
