I personally made out with hindsight. I had many trips just disappear and the ones that remained were usually commutable, low block, and long overnights. I am not one to bid lines with any intent of flying that line, so it aligned perfectly with my outlook on flying at SWA, which is to say I want to work the minimum amount for the most pay. Somewhere the effort and pay lines meet on a graph and it is very low for me in general. I get why some senior guys were mad that junior guys got trips pulled for pay and they had to fly some of their trips, but SWA was making cuts like flying was never going to come back and we all know how that ended up a year later.

No way they'd try that now...we'd bankrupt them.

This was the interior minus the kitchen cabinets which I am clearly underqullaifed to do. Saved me around 10 grand and kept me occupied. Back then I had more time than money. Not the case now.

As it would have it, I personally know of two guys who no longer fly do to injuries sustained or problems initiated while falling off ladders. I never get above the third step anymore.

That’s different. I’ll do interior painting myself…they wanted $7k to paint my basement when we did the reno and I laughed and did it myself.
