You can work as much as you want beyond that up to FAR limits or sit back and relax knowing you're flying 50ish hours and getting paid almost 90...either way you keep the green bar.
Another thing nice at Southwest is the green car is the new floor. So any soft pay will be on top of the green bar, you don't have to come up to guarantee first.

Our contract (purposely) punishes inefficency.

Which makes management more likely to furlough, assuming they can’t get enough takers for unpaid (or reduced hour) lines.

Then bring back when they start getting planes or for the holidays? You think it was hard before the new contract to attract qualified pilots, furlough and see who would want to come here .

They are out of touch, but that not that out of touch. Furloughs will never happen with this event of the Boeing slow down .

Yuuuup. Won't stop them from trying to extract something from us, though. Furloughing pilots for a temporary supply issue would be the final death blow to any hiring plans they have for when the airplanes actually do get here.

Recent upgrade class brief said company wanted 0 hr lines and SWAPA said, “no thanks”. So they’re negotiating some form of ETO where you’d have to stay current. No talk of furloughs at all.

Furloughs are more cost intensive than just keeping guys around, with reduced flying but stil keep them current

And SWApull will be foolish to entertain ETO. In the same breath the company is talking about adding Redeyes sooner. What furlough two months then need them back? Then again for two months then back again. But SWA never lets a crisis go to waste and this gullible group will fall for it.

If some pilots want a ETO option vs flying garbage rigged trips for 16-17 off, I think it’s the union’s job to negotiate for all pilots. I’d hope that the quality of lines would improve with a smaller headcount, but they’d prob just reduce a few rsv/blank lines instead. I’d rather everyone get another 1-3 days off a month with green bars and make the trips better…
