I am pretty senior, and if the VSP deal was the same as the last one, I'd be hard pressed not to take it this time. The math simply didn't work on the last one, but 4 years later, it would.

A pilot OTOF summed it up quite nicely:

Demand 5-10 million dollars in cuts from the GO by vertically cleaning all the dead management weight across several depts

No executive bonuses for the rest of the year

Fix the ridiculous divedend payouts by the BOD

Then and only then will we come to the table and look at pilot pay cuts. If not, then green bar us up.

VSP was 100 percent paid for by PPP. The taxpayers are holding the bag on that one. Sick time deletion was a bonus gain for the company.

I found that a lot of guys who took VSP weren't the sick bank savers. More the spenders. I flew with a guy who was reading the details of VSP during the trip. At the end he shook my hand and said it was an honor and that this was his last flight. He hadn't told anyone else but his wife. He called in sick for his next trip and was gone in two weeks.

The last time (before the taxpayer subsidized VSP) a buyout was offered, the company offered $25,000 and some other dumb stuff if you wanted to retire early. Then they downgraded 100 Captains. I mean, this company isn't generous with their own money. Only other people's money. And even that's kind of debatable.

All the ones I know had close to 1600 tfp. In the bank. You are correct it was a bonus and it was paid for by PPP.

For the record. I could care how much sick time someone has, just do not come to work sick and get me sick. allergies and I am from the FAA, and here to help . I just do not buy into.

He also took it upon himself to publish, on our dime, an awesome E-Zine called "Range", which was a huge hit with the pilots.

The next "VSP" like program will be the LOL. Wait another year when those with "chronic headaches" or back issues have their MBE nice and high go out on medical.
