Welcome and congratulations, very happy to have you. This place is great despite what you hear is occasionally complaining about.

Congrats on the invite! For our interview, be sharp, yet humble (as you already are), and be someone that people want to fly with. HR will still be looking for HR stuff as that is all they know…but the pilot side of the interview is pretty straight forward. Good luck!

I’m assuming this is hiring for after the first of the year? Or is this current round expected for holiday classes?

Internal email from our leadership indicated this was to finish rounding out the 140 slots that are starting in November and December of this year. He said numbers for 2026 were still being finalized with more to come on that. With the amount of applications they supposedly received, I imagine they will be using this stack to fill out the 2026 slots as well.

Lmfao. Dave, never mind pulling gear. You ready to talk about the Greatest Sports Car that’s ever been made for the next 23 years?

Just kidding. I’ll be long retired by then (perhaps even dead).

Anyway, hope you get the gig. One thing is for certain, your fellow employees at SWA are more friendly and personable than my past airlines. Basically, it’s very frowned upon to be a d__kh__d at SWA.

Oh, and about that 23 year thing. Trust me. From what I’ve witnessed, anything past five years and most FOs start to burnout. It’s a repetitive, high cycle job. 8-10 year FOs at SWA are frequently checked out. Of course their experience is appreciated when things don’t go as planned.

at SW we usually alternate legs so that cpt will have to sling gear for you as well. when the cpt puts his hand on the flap handle and looks at you, say gear down. Eff those overcontrolling pilots that can only do it their way.
off probation of course

Yeah, as others have said, this is a great work group with 99.9999 being super chill and easy to fly with. You won't be slinging gear the entire time, just half of it. Also, I "think" we will begin trending back towards the 6-7 year upgrade cadence once we get through 2026. Obviously, that is wishful thinking, but hey, it's worth a shot.
