Again, this was a line instructors opinion…here’s a more realistic observation for the month:
BNA has 46 captains out (11.3%).
DEN has 69 captains out (11.4%).
MDW has 67 captains out (10.7%).
BWI has 71 captains out (10.4%).
Lets just apply an across the board average of 10% of the seniority list is out right now.
This means approximately 1126 pilots are out on medical leave of absence.

Yeah fair point. Anyone know a way to tabulate it faster than counting paper bidders?
BNA has 28 FOs out (7%).
MDW has 40 FOs out (7%).
BWI has 52 FOs out (8.6%).
DEN has (8.4%)
NOTE: my stupid ace is only counting paper bidders which I realized also includes MIL leave. Sorry. So let’s just call it pilots on leave by percentage. I don’t want to count them all again.
Anyway, looks like of the samples noted for just LOA, we have about 10ish percent of captains and 7ish percent of FO’s, which gives an average of about 8.5% of the seniority list overall is out on some kind of LOA, dropping the number to about 958 pilots system wide.

I saw this coming with the new, incredible, about to be more expensive, disability program. I don’t know how they do it though. Walk in like Fred Sanford, acting blind?

I will say that the LTD insurance company will periodically check in and may ask for documentation from your medical people indicating your disability is still preventing your FAA medical from being issued.

A321XLR announced by end of the spring. A separate Austin training center that was leaked in the announcement of the base to cover the new type. It opens up flying to S America, Europe, Caribbean, possibly Asia from Hawaii. It allows premium seating, along with lounges already confirmed. SWA dropped the bag allowing HA and AS to merge they are hungry to fight back, the stock price reflects it.
You’re obviously high

This thread is funny. I do love when crazy rumors start flying, though. My buddy was sitting by the standards table in the sports page grill and overheard the new 787 system chief pilot in waiting say that we are taking the first 4 from a European carrier starting in November. It will be on the line by next March in time for Spring travel season kickoff.
Seriously, though, one thing is for sure. Change is afoot. I don't know what that means, exactly, but all the pieces and people are there for SWA to make a big move sooner than later. Bob Jordan still having a job is a sign that whatever Dallas has planned is likely sitting well with the investor community. He is one BOD seat flip away from getting canned. Staying the course has not worked for the last 6 years, so I doubt that's it. Things aren't going to happen fast around here, but they are happening.
