We had such a mild winter that no disruptions justified their stupid decisions. I can’t wait for the summer meltdowns to start….also hoping for some good TX sized wx that shuts down a couple bases.

The cost of putting a crew in a hotel, transportation and per diem is cheaper than keeping you in DEN. The math is the math. Has to be changed in CBA to change behavior. AW and BJ like when you blame the peeps in the cubicles. Makes the dirt on their pants that much cleaner.

This thread has actually gotten kind of ridiculous with the whole Denver thing. It shrunk. It sucks. It affected me too (I was based there). We as pilots have zero control over what the company ultimately decides to do with the way it deploys its assets. Launching an investigation into the cost structure of crew transportation to and from CBA complaint hotels is the last thing anyone needs to do. The company is managing. Let them manage. I get that a little complaining here and there about frustrating situations is just kind of what we do, but I feel like the statute of limitations on complaining about Denver has just about run out. They tried to go big there and realized it was foolish. It’s a great connecting station. It doesn’t have the OE traffic to support overnighting that many airplanes, so the company decided to create more outstation overnights. It is what it is.

This. It’s our CBA and our limitations. Notice how FAs weren’t displaced.

Crew planning doesn’t track hotel costs. Or transportation costs. Crew planning has no idea what the actual cost of displacements are (according to Swapa Contract admin/scheduling analytics). Different silo, different department’s problem.

You’ve also got crew planning telling displaced people to remove their #1 choice (base they were displaced from) to remove DRR and then add it back so they qualify for a secondary vacancy. Heard that straight from Contract Admin.
There’s an active grievance over displaced hotels being denied.

June vacancy had to be rerun because they f’d it up. No positive vacancies so everyone getting into DEN was a secondary. They totally disregarded the DEN base rep’s vacancy bid (he downgraded to stay in base and as base rep) and awarded the spot to someone jr. He protested and got his spot back. This is simple computer programming!

Agree the CBA needs to be changed. But to think people in DAL have a clue is being generous. This is either criminally negligent or extreme stupidity. I can’t wait for the next meltdown caused by it.

Are you that naive to believe this is a DEN only problem? Sure it's DEN now, but for sure coming soon to a domicile near you.

…and it will suck but I’ll roll with it because that’s how life goes. I can downgrade and stay, tough out the commute, or move! What I won’t do is stomp up and down, call the whole world stupid, and cry continually. I don’t think of myself as prideful but maybe I am because I couldn’t possibly act the way these guys are acting. It’s pretty gross.
